What Home Suits You

There are two types of rental accommodation provided by Brisbane Housing Company that meet a range of household incomes and affordability. Firstly our National Rental Affordability Scheme (NRAS) properties are part of the Australian and State Government's initiative to provide new properties at discounted rents to low to moderate income earners. The scheme was introduced in 2008 and in 2010 we completed our first NRAS homes at Masters Street in Newstead. This prestigious mixed tenure development provides studio, one and two bedroom apartments at a discount to the market rent for equivalent accommodation in the area. It is the first of several developments BHC are undertaking which will include NRAS units, aimed at housing key workers. Income eligibility conditions apply. Please go to http://www.environment.gov.au/housing/nras/requirements.html#pt for further information.

The second of our rental accommodation options is our affordable housing. If you are on a low income such as a Disability Support Pension, and are registered with the Department of Communities Housing and Homelessness Services for accommodation, you may be eligible for one of BHC’s affordable homes. Further information on eligibility can be found at: http://www.housing.qld.gov.au/renting/public/applying/eligibility.htm
